[no, this is not a joke and yes, it's an actual invite to a party over the network from the username: cock.licking.idiot (and no, that's not a joke, either).

those who decide that they'd rather not be square will arrive at some unspecified patch of lake shore (thanks, klaus) at a similarly unspecified time (good work, asshat) to discover that something resembling a slapdash but heartfelt lake party along the northern waterfront. a couple of tables have been dragged out of nearby cabins and now hold a probably inadvisable quantity of foods, at least half of which don't belong at a party by any means. is this what rationing looks like? this is definitely what rationing looks like. there's also an alcohol table, filled pretty sparsely early on in the party but gathering bottles and cans throughout the day. (word of mod says feel free to wing it on what kind of alcohol we have!).

a number of chairs sit in a wobbly line in the stone-filled waterfront sand, most of them not meant for beachgoing but nearly all of them able to recline. about fifty feet down the beach seems to be the splash zone, where all water horseplay exists well out of range of splashing those sitting in beachside chairs. some people dive or cannonball off the mostly-sturdy pier, while others seem to be batting around a-... is that a beach ball they have? no, it seems to be a balloon that says "get well soon". how fitting. please, someone bring them a fucking beach ball.

Even the creepy and fucked up experimentation world has better alcohol than Pandora. How rude. ]

[which might've ordinarily been coupled with a clap on the back but since rhys is drinking, klaus just nudges his elbow then makes his way back to the refreshment table to hunt down more alcohol— oh, and he's fully expecting rhys to just follow (if he likes).]

[ He will indeed follow. More than happy to get away from the water for now tbh. It still makes him uneasy (but that will probably pass with more drink in him. ]

Maybe, if we're lucky, we won't even die,

[hoo-boy, once he's intoxicated enough, rhys doesn't stand a chance; they'll be headed straight for the water even if it means klaus has to drag him kicking and screaming.]

We better hope we've got some stupid good luck, then.

You know, I'd say I do, so there's that.

[ As much as he'd like to attribute his success and the fact that he's still alive to skill, it's also luck. So much luck. ]

Hey, me too! I mean, considering and all.

[with how many times he's died and come back to life or been in an unfortunate situation, yet somehow managed to make it out (mostly) unscathed? yeah, he'd say he's got some luck, so they should be fine between the two of them.]

So our odds are pretty good then!

[ He'll drink to that. Everything left in his glass in one sweep, and then he looks for something nice to fill it with. ]

I'd give us at least a sixty-five percent chance.

[that might even be a generous number, honestly, but he couldn't care less. rhys finishes his drink and klaus has plucked up some watermelon monstrosity which is being poured into a purple solo cup with extra vodka, added from a flask he has in his pocket.]

[ Oh, hell yeah, fruit flavours! He takes a moment to look for another one, finds the pineapple, and refills his cup. ]

That's really generous. Don't think I can be that optimistic.

[channellings]

[brilliant choice, rhys! he lifts his cup in acknowledgment then takes a long drink, clapping his hand over his mouth so he doesn't spray liquor everywhere from accidentally laughing.

after klaus is sure he's swallowed,] Okay, okay, what about forty-five? Is that more appropriate?

[theprezident]

[ He considers it very seriously, stroking his mustache like ... it's a beard. It looks really stupid.

Then, he nods. ]

Yeah, I think I can give us that.

[rhys, could you not? it's sheer luck that klaus doesn't sputter into his cup at the gesture, but hey, points for making him smile.]

Not evenly split fifty-fifty like we might prefer... but it's something and that still counts.

[theprezident]

[ And he will gladly take those points.

Anyway, many more drinks will be had during the rest of the evening, probably some with a significantly higher alcohol content, and at some point they end up near the edge of the lake again, but a lot less sober. Which is probably not great and maybe they shouldn't just be left there. ]

Actually, I don't think I've ever seen a lake this clear. It's kinda creepy?

[they shouldn't be left there, not when klaus is one of the people near the water, but at least they're still outside of it (for now).

however, he's gotten far braver the more alcohol he ingests, is moving to stick a foot out and break the surface, kicking some unnaturally clear lakewater around. then klaus's leg draws back, he glances it over and shrugs when it seems as if no harm has been done.] Yeah, me either.

There aren't any patches of algae anywhere and I haven't seen a single fish yet. Have you?

[ Considering his previous wariness about the lake, it's strange that he doesn't react at all to the kicking. Or would be strange if he weren't so drunk anyway. ]

Nope. Maybe they're hiding. I guess they can see us as clearly as we could see them. If they weren't hiding.

[he snorts at the suggestion, not because it's ridiculous or wrong, but thinking about the fish hiding is actually kind of amusing.]

Funnily enough, that makes sense. [then he shifts, crouches down, cups a hand and splashes some water rhys's direction.] Come on, buttercup, don't be a stick in the mud.

[ fskjhfjdshf he lifts an arm to shield himself somewhat. ]

Hey! How am I stick in the mud? I'm drinking and everything.

[following an amused, hyena-like giggle,] Alright, fair, I'll give you that one. [since rhys is drinking and all.]

[a moment's hesitation then he grins.] Be a lot cooler if you did, though.
